The dreaded “About Me.”
I’d so much rather this was about you.
But, here I am, typing away, trying to think of what I should tell you about myself. I am first and foremost a mom to two wee ones, who you’ll most likely see plastered all over this site. I can’t help it. They are the ones who inspired me to pick up a camera to try to catch every little move they made and every little inch they grew. I am married to my best friend, and luckily he’s also theee.most.amazing.person on this planet. So yeah, I got lucky there. I teach full time in a high school, mainly Earth Science and a little bit of English, though my Master’s degree is in Special Education. I went to an all-girls Catholic high school. I have a Sharpie collection/addiction/obsession. I am terribly uncoordinated, but I try to run from time to time. I prefer non-fiction over fiction. I snowboard, garden, and have a black belt in online shopping.
And then there’s this, this little adventure of mine that I stumbled into about six years years ago. Photography. It’s my therapy. It’s that one huge challenge for me that never goes away – something you can always work on and improve upon. There’s always something more to learn, more to try, more to push myself creatively and artistically. Plus, I quickly realized once I had children of my own just how essential it becomes to try to catch their spirit, their quirks, their emotions…because as a parent I know how quickly time can pass by. How easily we can get caught up in the day-to-day, laundry pile after ever-growing laundry pile…and we just don’t stop often enough to take it all in. Or, maybe we snap away a few dozen images, but there they sit, forever in hard drive limbo, never to be printed or shared because, well, there is dinner to be made, and baths to be taken, and homework to be completed…
Make it a priority to capture these moments. I’d love to help.
